Une
proposition de Sébastien
Cliche Tout au long du vingtième siècle, des artistes et compositeurs d'avant-garde ont dérogé à l'écriture musicale conventionnelle en élaborant des systèmes visuels originaux. Ces pratiques de composition que l'on peut regrouper sous le terme de partitions graphiques proposent de nouveaux concepts musicaux en créant des ponts entre les disciplines. Inspirés par cette démarche, nous avons invité des artistes à réaliser une oeuvre/partition qui questionne l'interface entre le visuel et le sonore. Chaque partition a ensuite été confiée à un musicien qui se l'est appropriée pour en offrir une interprétation. Ces pièces musicales ont fait l'objet d'un enregistrement et sont présentées conjointement aux oeuvres de l'exposition par le biais de baladeurs audio. Allant au delà de la simple inspiration d'une oeuvre par une autre, le projet se veut une réflexion sur les modes de représentation du sonore et sur le processus d'interprétation. |
A proposal by Sébastien
Cliche Throughout the 20th century, artists and avant-garde composers turned from conventional musical notation and elaborated original visual systems. These notational practices, which can be grouped under the term graphic scores , propose new musical concepts while creating bridges between disciplines. Inspired by this process, we invited artists to create a work/score that questioned the interface between the visual and the sonic. Each score was subsequently entrusted to a musician who appropriated it and offered an interpretation of it. The musical pieces were recorded and are presented in conjunction with the works on exhibit via portable music players. Going beyond the simple inspiration of one creative work by another, the project strives to be a reflection on the means of representing sound and on the process of interpretation. |
